I'm always checking myself when I'm rushing. When I feel like i don't have enough time for everything. When I feel like I'm falling behind.

What am I rushing for?

I encourage you to ask yourself:

-Does it really make a difference to be a few steps ahead, or is it all in my mind? ( the ego 🥸)

-Does any of it truly matter to me? Or is it for everyone else?

-Am I really in a hurry or is it my nervous system?

-do I like the person I'm becoming through this journey?

-Am I even enjoying this?

And one by one, things start to lose its importance...

Are we missing the point?

My ego was in the driver seat for so many years. It was telling me to be productive, do more amazing things, AND tell others about it. But I felt like I was always falling behind anyway... and had no time left for myself.

Nowadays my days look very different. My highest priorities are nourishing my body, mind and soul, journaling, spending with hubby and the doggies. And whatever I sign up for must be more important than those things. It's very hard to compete with 🐕

And my life may look boring from the outside, but I can say that I am content every single day. That's the biggest achievement isn't it 🫶

A little reflection for you:
Look at your calendar...
-What is actually productive vs. Keeping busy?
-What adds value to your life?
-If there are no metrics, what else would you rather be doing?

This quote always brings me back to this perspective: be happy with the simplest things in our everyday lives. Only then, you can truly appreciate everything else.

I've really learned that gratitude is a muscle that we practice on and build over time. So I hope you pause during your morning coffee this morning and remember to feel how happy that little moment is ☺️ Say a little " thank you" and see how your whole day changes from that moment.

I've met the richest people with a humble life and the poorest people with lots of money. It's hard to wrap the mind around this because society shows us what "rich" is supposed to look like.

But when we slow down, stop consuming, we begin to see how much we already have. Warm bed, food in the fridge, clean water... and even beyond that, we are alive!!! Living and breathing with our lungs.. seeing with our eyes. We start to feel grateful for what's already there. And then we begin to understand what being rich really means.

I think we underestimate the difficulties of adjusting to a new lifestyle/habit. We almost expect to feel good when we are doing the "right" thing, but that isn't always the case. In fact, it feels so wrong at first, and we might even start to second guess ourselves.

In my case, always being a people pleaser, it still feels sooo wrong to say no. It feels wrong to throw away my old journals and photos. It still feels weird to have nothing planned for multiple days at a time when I could be making another video or doing something productive.

But trust yourself and sit with the feeling. Observe what you're feeling. And kindly remind youself why you are making these changes in the first place.

Those on a slow living, minimalist journey... keep going... ❤️❤️❤️

When you buy second hand, you can't go back to buying new. You see and feel the differences in the quality, the details, the craftsmanship. And you can't help but start comparing it to the cheap plastic stuff that fills our stores today ( for more $$$). Also, it makes you realize that there is already more than enough stuff in the world already..

Perfectly usable stuff.

And we are just adding to the pile without thinking twice. Instead of buying new and tossing it, let's learn to take care of the different materials and give life to all these forgotten stuff.

The shame and guilt placed on us by a culture that rewards conformity over truth🫵 it was never ours to carry.

Because... we are allowed to mess it up, pivot, fall, and pick ourselves back up again. Completely screw it up and brush it off and do it all over again. We can move at our own pace and choose to do things in a way that makes sense to us.

Because we are humans. We are SOULS, here to experience it all.

" Authenticity" isn’t a free pass to completely abandon responsibility or self-awareness. But most of us could loosen the reins a little and meet ourselves with more grace, more patience, and more kindness. When we finally release the weight of that hame and guilt ⚖️, we can move through life, not performing it, but truly living it.
